Dotted with red rock deserts, canyons and vortexes, Arizona has long been considered an epicenter for wellness and reflection. From Scottsdale to Sedona, here are six buzzworthy spa destinations and the latest and greatest treatments to try now.
SCOTTSDALE
• The Spa at Camelback Inn
• JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback
Inn Resort & Spa
Face Forward: Beat The Summer Heat Facial—formulated to depuff, tone and sculpt while renewing skin. This custom facial is complete with a scented hand and arm massage.
Spa Insight: “The summer services are specially designed for our location with the dry Sonoran desert air in mind, with a focus on hydration and soothing the skin,” explains Shelley Narath, director of the spa. “Our goal, no matter what time of year, is that you leave The Spa at Camelback Inn feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and renewed.”
• Palo Verde Spa & Apothecary
• Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows
Summer Hours: Summer Skin Therapy—a 60-minute facial and body treatment and post-sun skin care ritual. For a complete spa day poolside, prebook a summer package comprised of a chilled eye mask, refillable CamelBak water bottle, two complimentary spa beverages, chips, salsa and guacamole.
Spa Insight: “We are a boutique spa that values community through our local partnerships and highlights well-being by making personal connections with each guest,” says Ellie Stefano, spa and well-being director. “It is our goal to support each individual journey, whether it be through a soothing spa day or participation in energizing activities. Between our desert-inspired services, bespoke aromatherapy blends and robust membership program, we have something for everyone.”
• Alvadora Spa
• Royal Palms Resort and Spa
Orange Crush: Citrus Ritual—the relaunched treatment includes a full-body exfoliation with water gently cascading from above. After, relax in the spa’s garden tub and private patio area, and finish with a customized massage.
Spa Insight: “The property was constructed in the 1930s as a private wellness retreat, which Alvadora honors today through its intimate nature, indoor-outdoor spaces and thoughtfully curated treatment menu that serves as an homage to years past,” says Sara Huddleson, spa director. “We begin and conclude each treatment with neroli oil—an oil extracted from the flowers of orange trees—and offer a selection of citrus-inspired treatments as a nod to the historic orange groves on property.”
SEDONA
• Wilde Haven Spa
• The Wilde Resort and Spa
Get Grounded: Seven Sacred Pools Intentional Alchemy Ritual—designed in collaboration with local healers at siStar Code Alchemy and inspired by Sedona’s Seven Sacred Pools rock formation. The treatment brings balance to each of the seven major energy centers (or chakras). Later, each chakra is anointed with essential oil blends while Sedona vortex-amplified Herkimer diamonds, crystals and tuning forks synergize energy and enhance healing.
Spa Insight: “Inspired by the magic of Sedona, the Wilde Haven Spa is an escape from the hustle of life,” says spa manager Robin Harrington. “Newly remodeled, the spa offers treatments that promote healing and spiritual growth including expert therapeutic massage with native oils, full-body rituals with sensorial baths and sound bowl yoga. Outdoor soaking tubs and landscaped seating areas are a respite for contemplation, inviting guests to relax and take things a little slower.”
• Spa Suites at Boynton Canyon
• Enchantment Resort
Set Your Intentions: Intentional Aromatherapy Massage—comprised of a dry body polish exfoliation and a light, flowing massage. During this signature 60-minute massage, choose from 10 aromatherapy oils and blends based on the intention of the oil that resonates most.
Coming Soon: The resort’s beloved spa, Mii amo, will reopen later this year following a major renovation and expansion featuring five new treatment rooms and a partnership with eco skin care brand Babor. Currently services are offered in the Spa Suites.
Spa Insight: “As Mii amo awaits its reopening in the fall, the same kind, caring and intuitive team of therapists and practitioners continue to offer many of the acclaimed Mii amo treatments that have been so well received over the years,” says general manager and Enchantment Group’s director of well-being Jim Root. “From intention-based aromatherapy massages to sound healing to interactive aura readings, our timeless, connecting, energetic and purposeful treatments offer each guest an individualized journey.”
• L’Apothecary Spa
• L’Auberge de Sedona
What’s New: Turquoise and Sage Hydration—a 90-minute nature-inspired treatment intended to ground and restore the body and soul with a dry brush exfoliation for circulation and an application of sage- and turquoise-infused body butter.
Spa Insight: “L’Apothecary Spa is truly nature’s spa, as it is set amongst an idyllic scene of lush forest and backdropped by the rolling waters of Oak Creek,” says spa director Adrianna Stepien. “Guests are completely transported to their own oasis within Sedona and experience the natural beauty and surroundings around them.”
